The Giver

The Giver is set in a dystopian future in which nobody questions what is right and wrong but does as they are told. The main character lives with his family unit and is about to go through the ceremony of the 12s. His name is Jonas, and as he grows up, he finds out that the society they live in may not seem as perfect as it looks. They may not have to pay for food; there are no wars or crimes, but the ugly truth is under the surface. Will Jonas find out about his fake life, and will he be able to do anything about it? This book is very heavy, and in some parts, it is hard to read, but over all, it is a great book, by Lowis Lowery.
